It's Church Camp Time Again

I was committee chairperson for our church camp last year and I've been invited to be in the committee again this year. It was a really inspiring experience - working with the committee members. We also had a lot of fun thrown in with the hard work. Last year was also the first year that we organized our very own team building games which were designed by Michael. It involved telematches at the beach, a task using wood and string to create a bridge, and a 5-way tug of war!

That was the fun part!

As I was also helping out part-time at church, I was the best person to handle the registration. I designed the forms, collected the fees and also arranged the rooming list. It was something short of a nightmare. It was also stressful because the camp venue only had limited rooms so I had to keep counting the number of people who signed up and those who pulled out.

This year I will be helping out from afar until I go back to KL. I wonder if the committee will be open to trying online event registration template for church camp?

There are quite a few benefits of online registration. The fact that it is paperless is one big factor to me. Creating the form online is also easy. Last year I used Publisher to create the form, had it printed out on color paper and had to manually do a three-fold for all the forms!!

With online registration, we can save time and money - not to mention trees! As it is we already have a church website - we just need to link the form to the website, run reports, collect payments, print names and even badges.

I think the feature that enables you to generate reports is wonderful. I had the Pastors asking me for numbers (with breakdowns of age groups) and collection all the time. I did use excel but with my limited knowledge, it was faster if I calculated manually. I could at least create some simple formulas so the collection part was fine :) So if reports can be generated, it would have made my life so much easier then.

I think I've only skimmed the surface of features on this site! I'd better send the link to the committee chairperson.
